Thanks: Gave 4, Got 5 | So which is the best? Pany AE3000, Mitsu 7000, Mitsu 6500 or the Sony?
Hi all,
Just want to know if anyone could just confirm which is the best for picture quality given these have been out for a month or so now.
Is it too early to conclude?
Am looking to buy a projector and was set on the AE3000 until I read the Mitus 7000 has a sharper picture but given the Mitsu 7000 is not as bright will this result in a lesser picture overall?
Is the Mitsu more reliable than the Panny?
Will a Mitsu 6500 be better than a 7000 as it is brighter?
Should I just go for the cheaper Sony?

Should I just go for the cheaper Sony? | How long is a piece of string. Each has it's strong points, each has it's weakness. It all depends on what you want from a projector and which one fits that criteria. Things like you room, the screen you are planning on using, throw distance, do you want to take advantage of 2.35:1 via zoom or anamorphic, do you need a brighter output due to environment, do you want complete colour accuracy or is it black level and dynamic range at the top of your list? Each will do one, some or none of those things. My advice, find out what you want and need and then find somewhere to try and get a demo of as many as possible fitting your needs.
BTW, every one of those projectors are being reviewed by me in the coming days and weeks (some already covered) and even I would struggle to give you one that is the best, they all have different plus points for different reasons and you will never get a perfect display ever! You need to find out exactly what you want to achieve and then the product that fits that.

I think Phil gave a great answer.
IMHO, the fact that the Sony HW10 is selling for less than the AE3000 in the UK is a real bonus.
I had both the AE3000 and HW10 in my HT. I ended up keeping the HW10, which cost more $$$ over here in the USA.
The AE3000 has many very cool features, but I found I preferred the overall image quality of the HW10.
I have gone into greater detail and if you would like a link to my review on the AVS forums, please post and I will add it to your thread.
Good luck with your projector purchase.

My intended purchase will be for a dedicated room with a screen size of around 110-120 inches. The throw distance will be around 5 metres and the room has white walls although will have relevant blinds to black the room out. I guess top of my priority lists are sharpness and colour accuracy.
I look forward to reading your reviews.

Dunno if it's of any use to you, but I've posted my feeling about a recent demo of 2 of the 3 projectors you mentioned over here.
All the best.
