Anyone live near middlesbrough...and also owns a HD PJ?

Need to make a decision pretty sharpish as to whether to upgrade from 4805 to a 1080,almost certainly IN x10.Problem is I've never seen any other PJ's and no one demos in this area.I would love to see some other PJ's just out of sheer interest as I've been reading about'em since the Z5 and the AE900 were the top kiddies on the block and never seen nowt!Anyone live within striking distance of cleveland with a HD set-up?Can I come and see it?

I live no where nere you! But... I have an Infocus X1 at the moment, pretty similar to the 4805. The difference between these and the newer HD projectors such as the X10, Z5 or as per another thread, the Z2000, is not really comparible. It's huge.

It's not just the resolution, the blacks are blacker, the contract / shadows are better, the colours are more vibrant, things have moved on! Also, noise, if your 4805 is like the X1 they're pretty noisy buggers really, the new crop are much quieter!

Obviously you'll still want to view, but I reakon you could order any of the new models and you would be thrilled!

Hope that helps,

Chris

P.S. Check the size of the X10 before you buy... it's huuuuggge!

I live in middlesbrough and just got an Optoma HD65... not exactly in the same league as what you are looking at though.

Its not exactly near boro but just across the hills and down through the wolds to Market Weighton. A few hours drive but once I'm set up your quite welcome. I'll have a 1080p LCD soonish.

Re: Anyone live near middlesbrough...and also owns a HD PJ?

I upgraded from a SP4805 to a Panny AX100 a couple of years ago now and have just replaced the AX100 with a AX200. Even though I'm only using 720p I have to agree with chrisfh. The move from SD to HD was like night and day really. I used to watch Sky HD and XBOX 360 on the 4805 thinking it was good but once you make the move to HD you'll definitely notice a huge difference.

Also, the Panny and probably most other new pjs aren't as loud as the 4805. I now only have the noise of the xbox to deal with
