short throw projector for a band

Hi

I need some help on the best PJ for using on stage to project a 4:3 image arround 2m wide. Sadly the limitation is throw distance, typicaly the gigs only have a stage depth of arround 2.5m and given that i need to place the vocalist front of stage i need either:

very short throw like the Sanyo PLC-XL50 so that it doesnt get in the way of anyone.
or a pj with lens shift which can be mounted left or right of stage. Given that i cant rear project it has to be front projection and the cost cant be too much.
I guess the question is, what alternatives to the Sanyo PLC-XL50 are there out there that i could use to get a 2m image from upto about 2ft... seen the sanyo arround £1000 but is there something nearer the £500 mark.

ta

Dom
