help me choose upgrade from these 4 1080p projectors

I currently have a Mitsubishi HC5000 and would like to upgrade mainly due to the poor black levels, otherwise its a great projector. Can anyone give their thoughts on these projectors and advise if the price differences are worth the additional costs, eg is the extra money worth it for the JVC HD1 over the BenQ w5000. I am currently projecting from about 19ft, so the HW10 may be out of the equation:-

-BenQ w5000 - £1264.99
-Sony VPL-HW10 £1600
-JVC HD1 - £1899
-Panasonic AE3000 - £2200

I'd go for the HC6500 or even HC7000 and enjoy the most silent projector on the market with excellent black levels.

I agree

I have the HC6000 which i can't hear and it produces lovely blacks. The HC7000 improves the blacks further then I'd look no further.

yeh I love the Mits HC5000, according to Calculator Pro on Projector Central, i would be projecting from too great a distance for recommended brightness, or should I take these calculations with a pinch of salt,

regards,

Neil

p.s the
Panasonic PT-AE2000U seems to get a better review than the HC6000 overall at Projector Central and is a bit cheaper, also it is better suited for a long throw

I'd say the HC6500 with 1200 lumen would be the better option for you.
The HC7000 is designed for a light-controlled room and has less lumen compared to the other models.

I agree with Spooney I think the Mits HC6500 would be a good choice for you, especially as you have an HC5000 and like it. The 6500 has more brightness, contrast and better black levels together with great sharpness which you have grown used to.
The 6500 will fill a 106" diag. screen from 17.5' with 13FL.

Have you read Phil Hintons review of the Mitsubishi HC6000 on these forums? The HC 6500 should perform at least as well if not better.

Re: help me choose from upgrade these 4 1080p projectors

What about any opinions on the

-BenQ w5000 - £1264.99

according to this review the Mitsubishi HC6500 and BenQ w5000 are on a par, so is it reall worth the extra £735 for the Mitsubishi H6500?
The only advantage i can see the Mitsubishi having is better placement in my room as I will be projecting from 17.5ft

And are either of these really on the same level as the JVC HD1 at £2000, the same price as the Mitsubishi HC6500?

thanks,

Neil

Sony VPL-HW10 v. Panny PT-AE3000 - Page 2 - AVS Forum

Check out the link above. I have posted a number of HW10 observations including some direct comparisons to the AE3000.

I still have the HW10 at the top of my list.

I might note the HW10 is more expensive than the AE2000 here in the US.

Re: help me choose from upgrade these 4 1080p projectors

I've a JVC HD1 myself,I paid a grand more than it's current price...worth every penny!! It desrves it's reputation, it's still a cracking PJ. My advice is get a few demos.

Adie.

Re: help me choose from upgrade these 4 1080p projectors

thanks, yeh the Jvc was my favourite, just the price that was holding the purchase up. Anyway I've pulled fired the trigger on a Sharp XV-Z21000 (aka Sharp XV-Z20000), its meant to be good, so looking forward to getting it.
