JVC HD100 set up

I am looking to carefully set up my 100. It's been up a couple of weeks but now the screen is installed I want to get the best out of the unit

I have clearly not aligned the projector perpendicular to the screen as it shows a need for Keystone adjustment. Is there an easy way to adjust the unit to be perpendicular before moving the vertical and horizontal adjustments ?

I can't find an easy way to put the vertical and horizontal adjustments back to zero !

Re: JVC HD100 set up

You want to be using LENS SHIFT not keystone correction. Annoyingly though there is no marker for being in the middle of the adjustment! Asides from trial and error the best you can do is measure out from the edges of the screen to triangulate the central position where the projector is (e.g. two identical lengths of string from lens to corner of screen)

its the way i always do it. Just make sure though that you do this approach for the lens centre not case centre, as not every PJ has a central lense. yes i made that mistake once......

Thanks guys, so I go full left, full right and split the difference to make the center. so the PJ should go the same full off screen either side then it's center ?

Up and down will be a little more difficult as the screen is close to the ceiling as is the PJ. I will need two people for the string thing, great idea though !!

Re: JVC HD100 set up

well yeah, clip a long pice of string to the side of your screen and use it to make a mark at the other end (to make up a triangle).
Making sure you use the same lenght of string make a mark again (from other side of screen)and where they cross is your centre point. make sure that centre point is dead centre to the lense after installation of PJ and you are now as near to centre as possible.

its a one man job, done a few times on my own now.

That is genius (or at least pretty clever anyway).

Re: JVC HD100 set up

Getting there.....

I will buy some string today, spent and hour or so tweeking the PJ got the mount level (by spirit level) then went full right and full left and centred the angle, the PJ is within 10 mm of the room center but not sure how true walls etc are.......... I hope I don't have to move too much ! the string will tell !

Finally tweeked the angles as I tightened up and made sure the squares were even all the way round. Got it within 2-3mm at worst. Most is spot on, looked very carefully at extremes for focus and there is a small difference left to right (I am guessing the wall are not true !) I do know the screen is spirit level correct and the PJ is too. Virtually no keystone skew now.

I will report back with the magic string test.

I did as instructed taped a corner to the screen then took this to 10mm infront of the lense center and marked. I then taped this to a leather chair parallel to the side wall and taped this to the chair. Then going back to the first point with the string I was able to match the length exactly for the other corner as I kept the tension the same then taped the other corner on.

Final result about 10mm to the right hand side. Is this tolerable or worth moving ?
