AE700 upgrade...

Having been told that there's no way I'm spending £1K up on a new 1080p PJ I am now wondering what the new budget 720p models are like in comparison to my ageing beauty.

I like the AE700 a lot, but am feeling the lack of a nice black level and 'sharp' picture.

Has anyone side-graded to something along the lines of the Optoma HD700X and does a new £400 PJ compare to an old £1500 PJ?

PJ is about 12ft back from a 92" screen - pretty much centre to screen.

Re: AE700 upgrade...

I'm in exactly the same boat as you, same projector, except my bulb finally went in the summer. Replacing that would not really be a problem, but to be honest it pretty much has the 'blue screen of death' discolouration over a significant portion of the screen too.

So I'm after very similar advice!

I paid 1300 i think, but things have obviously moved on since then, and better technology can be had for cheaper, and I need a replacement as soon as possible.

I've just been reading a thread on the InFocus X9. It's seems to have quite the wow factor according to some and can be had for around £490.
