Infocus X10, just placed order, will do a basic owners review with photos

Despite the monster size, the image quality is reported to be very good, perhaps the best at this price point, so I took the plunge and bought it today from Dabs4work for £750 + vat. The Optoma HD800x was also in consideration but I decided on the X10.

Once I have the new PJ set up, I'll do a very basic owners review and provide some pictures.

Regards,

Tony

Ceiling mount for Infocus X10 - just ordered new PJ

Some on Ebay for £30 odd, any others worth considering? (I've just order an X10 from Dabs4work for £750 + vat).

Thanks for your link, just bought that mount.

If it's any comfort, my room will have the projector mounted about 2 thirds back from the wall, so it's just off the center of the ceiling as I have a 6ft screen. For me, this is ample. If I put the PJ on the back wall it would look better but I'd need a bigger screen which I'd find too big for my liking (don't want to get whiplash snapping my head left and right when watching a film ).

Thanks for your posts,

Tony

Here's some pictures taken from my old Infocus 4805, images shown are projected onto a 6ft wide draper luma screen; I'll try and get the same images off the X10 to compare side-by-side:

I'll be interested to hear what you think too. I am bracing myself for shock when I open the box (I think it's stupid big, the huge size alone was almost enough for me to rule it out of consideration).

Mine should be with me tomorrow or Wednesday, assuming Dabs send me the PJ and not a printer or fax!

i couldnt get a discount, i did ask but he was to close to the wire, apparently infocus have put £70 onto the price, it must be true because oyyy.co.uk have put there X10's up £70 over night

plus for the sake of the extra £30 i have piece of mind, as nik will bend over backwards to help out ... and promised i will have it tomorrow ... just hoping the mount turns up tomorrow aswell

I emailed oyyy and asked if they could better £750+vat I paid and they said they could not.

Dabs, inc del & vat worked out to £889.60 althogh I did try a few smaller firms, CVS included (I'd rather have given my money to a small business than a large corp).

hehehe ... i told my mrs its about the same size as my HD75

if dabs are sending it you might end up with either a toaster or a IN83 .. swings and roundabouts

Re: Infocus X10, just placed order, will do a basic owners review with photos

Sat here working away waiting for the delivery. I'd like to say I'm feeling excited, but I'm not. I should be, but I'm not. I've read a few more reviews (complaints?) on tinternet about btshop/dabs and now I have a sense of moderate concern!

I am a little bit excited though

Fingers crossed I won't get a toaster

you'll be fine tony mate, the toaster is the least of your worries, you wanna pray you get something full stop ...

its only a 6-8 hour wait in the queue to get through to customer support, no phone numbers, just crappy tinternet chat

Lol @ vicar on a bike Picture this vision..... a man of the church getting a piggy back from Jordan (aka Katie Price)

To be honest, Dabs4work have (so far) been very good, they're quick to pick the phone up and I've even got my own personal account manager, who I've spoken to twice already and he did mention Amtrak went belly up, hence he could not state if I would get the PJ today or tomorrow.

Wait and see, I don't want to start singing praise at this stage and let's face it, there's enough bad press associated with dabs/bt to make any one concerned.

I hopes they get it right

Bummer. I've just chased Dabs and my PJ did not leave them yesterday, despite me ordering it in the morning. It got picked up from them today around 10am.

It's on a 1-3 day delivery too Oh poop..... This is like telling a child, who has been twitching with excitement all day on the 24 December, that he won't get his new toys until 28th December. It's not fair!!!

Re: Infocus X10, just placed order, will do a basic owners review with photos

im just not meant to have one,

ive spent all day moving my screen back an extra foot,

the ceiling now looks like a loon has gone mental with an M16 because i was trying to locate the struts, i managed it on the 30th attempt

the mrs nipped down asda, so i said oh, pick up a tube of filler .. 40 mins later she rings and says, they only have 28 tubes, will that be enough ... i hate pish takers

so im sat here looking at my aero ceiling and a lonely mount on the chair
