My trusty old w100 of 2 years has just blown it's first and only bulb.I got the perfect excuse to buy a HD projector now. What sort of money could i expect to get for a bulbless w100? I know it wouldnt be worth alot, seeing how much HD projectors have come down in price since i bought the w100,but it's done a good job and would be a shame to leave it to rott in the loft.

I sold one for £250 with just 200 hours on the lamp. I think you may get only £100 as a replacement lamp is around £150.

The last time i checked it was at about the 1800 mark, but i hadn't looked for ages, and i use it everyday so its way past that mark.It was working fine as normal then BANG! that was that.I was suprised how loud it was.It says 3000-4000 hrs but i think its luck of the draw, mine was in eco mode btw.Im going to sell it and get a HD pj now.

I've also had mine in eco mode since day one...

I think you're right when you say it's the luck of the draw..and I'm hoping that I got the lucky draw!!..

I have mine operating through an upconverting DVD player and an Anamorphic lens, and I'm still very impressed with the image quality that I'm getting after two years of use..
I still can't justify going to HD yet either..

Replacement lamps down here still cost about $375.00 AUD, so when mine blows, I may have to give some further thought to upgrading..

Re: benq w100

Hmm...That's about $330.00AUD on the current rate of exchange..
Just a bit cheaper than our price...still a lot of money..

One problem I've had with my W100, is a bluish tinge appearing in the lower part of the screen..I've been told that it's a Polarizer filter on the way out..so the lamp might outlast the filter before I have to replace the unit..

Evidently the bulb envelope can distort over time and eventually lets go with a rather loud bang..
Prior to fitting a UPS in my system, I had several blackouts in my area and the fan switched off without cooling the lamp.
I had expected the lamp to have blown before now, but it seems that the Polarizing filter was more affected by the overheating than the lamp..
Funny enough..since I installed the UPS, I've never had another blackout..!!.
