Sony VPL-HS10 Set up help needed please

HI Guys

1st post in the projector despite having my projector well over a year so be gentle with me.

I have recently been getting to grips with my home cinema and finally started fine tuning the various elements involved and having sorted the sound with AV Amp speakers and Subwoofer I am now looking to perfect the picture side of things.

my set up is Sony VPL-HS10 projector a bit old but HD Ready

Sources PS3 and Yamaha DV1700 DVD player fed via Yamaha AVR761 Amp

connections are

HDMI x 2 to Amp and HDMI to DVI Cable to projector

Picture with Blu-ray is pretty good but i wonder if it could be better

The piece i need some advice and help with is the connection and settings for the projector

current settings are RGB Digital input with QED HDMI to DVI but i have noticed on my plasma that Y pb/Cb Pr/Cr progressive give a better picture but i do not know if and how i would set my projector up to display it.

so the question is what are the best settings / connection to use

Digital RGB won't show Y pb/Cb Pr/Cr it give a poor colour etc but then it is RGB the other option is Computer but that gives a 4:3 small picture or do i need to use component cable to achieve this.

Any help would be appreciated does anybody have one of these or remember having had one of these please help

Cheers

Hi,

In DIGITAL, then in the menu on the picture preferences (3rd sub-menu from top) you can choose between Video and Computer. Choose video there for the PS3 and DVD (via HDMI).

If the image is still small then the sources aren't sending a 720i or higher picture... It's 1:1 mapping there, so you get what you send.

If your dvd player doesn't have HDMI than use a component cable to display YUV.

Great projector (it's mine too)...

Re: Sony VPL-HS10 Set up help needed please

HI Mutley

Thank you for your post

I currently have my projector set up in Digital with a HDMI connection from the DVI Socket with the output of my PS3 to YUV but the digital output on the screen from the Projector shows digital GBR what does that mean and is it correctly set up

There is a piece in the manual about changing setting under computer but i cannot access that part of the menu

Have i got my projector set up the best way possible for watching HD from blu-ray on PS3

Thanks again for your help

JohnnyU,

I might have exactly what your looking for, the Sony PJ mulit cable (connects to the HS10 to dvd component connections for 720p), CC40R and 30R filters for the lens and settings for calibration plus a brand new air filter for the HS10.

If your interested please let me know...
