panasonic ae900 cant see hd difference

Hello,
I own a panasonic ae900 hd projector and i feed it with a sony playstation 3 blu ray but when i view the image theres very little difference to my hd dvds, i have tried all the uotput resolutions from the playstation, in fact i played bluray version of 300 and it was grainy and whites were washed out and very poor colour, i then dug out and played the sd dvd of Alfie and it was much better the colours were spot on and the picture was just superb so whats going on are modern films using poor quality film or what, i connected with a reference chord hdmi lead. i really thought this hd would blow me away well in fact it did when i saw £12000 sim2 projector the hd picture was just incredible, it makes me think that unless you put this crazy amount of money out projectors are a waste of time.

Re: panasonic ae900 cant see hd difference

You chose the wrong film there pal,300 has a very high amount of grain in the picture it was shot that way,you probably chose the worst film for demoing HD material.

It's a great film just very grainy and the colours are not natural either.Pop in a different movie and all will be revealed.

Re: panasonic ae900 cant see hd difference

HD DVD and Blu Ray will look similar as they are both the same resolution. Also, sometimes they even use the same transfer and video compression so they will look identical (UK version of T2 for example).

Definitely try I, Robot. It is a stunning transfer.
