Question Help: BenQ PE7700 <->Yamaha RXV2200 <-> LG DV388 component video problem

Hello,

I need some suggestions to figure out what may be going wrong.

I recently bought a new LG HD DVD (DV388) player and tried to replace my old beat up (non-HD) Philips DVD player. The setup is over component video.

DVD -> LG _DV388
AVR -> Yamaha RXV 2200
Projector -> BenQ PE 7700

Problem:
======
The color on the projector is washed out and is missing Red.

Trials so far
=========
1. The old DVD player over the same cables works fine
2. New DVD player on another TV over component works fine

Please suggest.

OT: Isnt LG DV 388 a upscaling player ? Also have you tried playing different formats such as divx , xvid ?

Hi Nikunj_cal,

Yes it is an upscaling player. I have not tried DivX or Xvid yet.

Have you got all the component connections in the right place. I had something similar to this and found that I had mixed up two of the colours.

Hmm since the rest of the players are working fine with the same cable , then i guess the component (Yr ??) port must be faulty .

I myself was thinking of buying a DV 388 , so was curious to know as to how is the picture quality and why did you choose Dv 388 ? I am particularly inclined towards it cause of its usb port + divx playback+ optical audio out. However LG players are not very popular but I would want my player to serve me for 3 years max . Do you think DV 388 will be reliable for next 3 years ? How is the dvd video quality as compared to Phillips 5992/ Pioneer 600/Sony NS 708. Sorry for so many questions

nikunj_cal,

I chose the DV 388 due to the USB and upscaling capability. I am not sure if I can give a review as I have not been able to hook it up to my projector yet.

As far as the Yr port is concerned, I tried the DV 388 with my Samsung LCD TV and over component and it worked fine.

I am confused.

Hmmm, so in other words the projector is not being able to read the Yr signal from the DVD player. Interesting !! Did u try composite cables ?

Hi budikspam,

Have you tried connect an external portable hard drive to the LG 388? Does it have support HDDs?

Thanks

Cheers!!!
