£1000 Projector?

Hi guys

Since buying my Optoma EP739 agesss ago I'm really out of touch with projectors. As you may know I'm only 16 so money's tight, but summer work has brought me some dosh so here I come flying in to the HD world!

So then, I want the best HD projector possible for £1000. I have no idea where to start so please help!

Cheers, Jez.

PS I'm leaving around £200 for a blu-ray player. Is that enough? Should I go for a cheaper PJ and get a better BD Player?

Re: £1000 Projector?

Have you any idea of if you want a LCD or a DLP projector.

I mean. You can get a PS3 and a Optoma HD65 HDReady projector for around £300 + £450 = £750 and still have left over for a screen.

Hi mate, just to clarify, I only need the projector. I've already got the other goodies in my setup already; I'm just upgrading

Not fussed about LCD or DLP; not fussed about rainbow effect or the like. Just want the best picture quality!

Bear in mind I would possibly like the option of a slightly brighter model because ambient light isn't always really low.

Re: £1000 Projector?

BUMP, why can't anyone tell me which projectors are good? Can't be that hard a question?

Re: £1000 Projector?

If you can't control light then a Panasonic PT-AX200 at 2000 lumens could be the way to go. That said a 1080p machine is possible at that price.

You'd need to let us know what throw distance you are looking at and any other placement issues you might have. These were all reasons why I eventually went with the AX200. Other projectors just didn't match my room requirements.

PJ will be ceiling mounted. Throw range won't be an issue, my current projector is on about half zoom so unless other projectors are vastly different it should be a problem. I think the AX200 is the best option probably but I'm aware there are other options available. Screen is around 90".
