Settings help please!

I seem to have messed up the picture settings of my Nvidia graphics card whilst tinkering with picture quality on the HD65. I am not dissapointed with the HD65 but was trying to achieve something like the screen shots seen on the forums here.

I now have traces of the image like a motion blur on dark and light areas of the screen (pj and also dell 24inch wide monitor) and have very poor colours. Can anyone suggest an idiots guide (as I clearly seem to be at around this level) to basic settings and adjustment without spending loads on a calibration disk.

Many thanks.
