Near the end of the video, all three top end machines and close ups of the back panels and specs, plus my initial thoughts. Enjoy.

Re: New Epson EH TW3000
Anyone with news on this projector? I'm especially interested in the 2000 Lumens, as we seem to do a lot of daytime viewing, and hence end up watching the plasma most of the time. Would like a super bright 1080p projector.

I'm sort of interested in this upcoming model for similar reasons and contacted Epson who gave this response :

In reply to your e-mail I can confirm the unit has been re-scheduled for release for December the 1st. I apologise for the delay in this

Re: New Epson EH TW3000
Just checked Art's blog on his first look on the Epson 6500 UB. Not sure which model is this one in the UK. Never understood why they make the names different.
The Art of Home Theater Projectors » Blog Archive » Epson Home Cinema 6500 UB - First Look!
very impressive it seems from his first look.

Re: New Epson EH TW3000
I think that's the 3000 he is referring to. The US version of the 5000 is called the 7500 AFAIK. Certainly a glowing review of the 3000. Really looking forward to getting my grubby paws on a 5000.

Over there you also get a free bulb and ceiling mount. Not here though.
I was very keen Epson's more compact dimensions and a bit stronger lumens for ambient viewing environment. However, I've been waiting since autumn and couldn't wait until January after Epson's continuously delays and further prospects of possible price increases. I needed something to hook up my new ps3 and popcornhour, and I managed to bag a HW10 before the imminent price increase.

Re: New Epson EH TW3000
It's stupidly confusing. We even have the TW5800 appearing on UK sites - with hardly any visible difference (can't remember but I think the warranty was different!).

Re: New Epson EH TW3000
So if this projector is appearing on Dec 1st, shouldn't we have access to them by now? It looks great but when is it actually going to appear?

Re: New Epson EH TW3000
I honestly don't understand this frame interpolation thing (I'm a little slow, I guess).
If I feed a projector a 1080/24p signal (from a PS3), why do I need FI at all? The "source" (24 fps movie) matches the 24p being fed to the projector. Picture should look smooth and fine without it???
If I feed it 50hz (say from Sky HD), then it should also be fine as these movies have been slightly "sped up" to 50fps. That is: The 50fps source matches the 50hz signal being fed to the projector so there should be no need for frame interpolation as the picture will be smooth without it.
Maybe I'm completely wrong, but that is my "layman's" understanding of how it all works.

Re: New Epson EH TW3000
Has anyone seen any reviews of this projector yet? Is there an american equivalent which has been reviewed as I know epson have an obsession with making things confusing and changing the names for US and european models?

If you read his previous blog, you'll see he was very impressed with the Epson. His only problem seemed to be with frame interpolation from the PS3.

Art is loving 6500UB, the new favorite, no wonder at only $2800!!! (here we have to cough up £3k for TW5000!!) Epson Home Cinema 6500UB Projector Review
If Epson Uk could have sold the TW3000 for £2k, I would not hesitate to spend another £500 instead off hw10, but at double the price effectively, its not twice as good as the sony.
