Component to DVI-I

Hello all,
This is my first time posting here, although this forum has always been helpful in the past.

I just bought myself a Kiss 450 DVD player & a InFocus LP500 to play with. Right now I have them connected via the s-video sockets, but I want to try & use the component output.

The first problem is that the Kiss outputs this via the scart socket.
The next problem is the limited inputs on the back of the InFocus (s-video, composite & DVI-I)

I know you can buy an adaptor for the InFocus that has other feeds, including component, but I want to try avoid paying for this (more than £200?!?)

What I need is a scart to DVI-I cable or a scart to VGA 15 pin socket (the projector comes with an adaptor cable).

Does anyone know where I can get myself one of these? Or how to make one? My own attempt only gave me a green output, so somethings not right there. Does anyone know anything about the pins?

Thanks

John

Hi John,

Welcome to the forum (as a member !!)
Can't really tell you about scart to VGA, (someone will be along shortly who will give you the low down on this ....) . Might be helpful to give some further details oa the "adaptor cable" you mentioned. However......

......this can't be done - DVI is all digital, component is an analogue signal comprising colour and luminence.

All the best,

Sean G.

I think there are two flavours of DVI. One that is all digital & one that is a mixture of both analogue & digital. Have a look here (I'm not sure if this link is going to work)

http://www.projectorpoint.co.uk/proj...onnections.htm

I was assuming that mine was the later as the adaptor cable that came with the projector was a analogue monitor to DVI cable (& usb too)
