Thanks: Gave 39, Got 20 | Best £200 NEW/2nd Hand PJ?
right, setup a thread earlier in the trades section but it got removed.
basically if i wanted a pj for £200 whats the best avalible NEW and 2nd hand (anything on the bulb left more than 200hrs would be ok, as only expecting it to last a year or so).

You won't get a new projector for £200,second hand you would probably be able to buy a 3yr+ old machine.
Somthing like a Sanyo Z2.Panasonic AE500 they will still have some life left in them, bulbs can last for around 2000hrs.

Depending on what you want to use it for I've got a cheapo pj in the classifieds that may be suitable: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=800042
569 hours used out of a theoretical 2000 so should be some life left in the old girl.
If £200 is the absolute most you have to spend then you will be looking at fairly old projectors in the classifieds. For another couple of hundred you could be looking at brand new or very nearly new 720p projectors.

Ebay is probably the best place. A Infocus IN72 goes for around that kind of money. There is also a BenQ W100 for a buy it now price of £210.

There's a new Toshiba MT200 on eBay at the moment, they normally sell for around £200, I have this projector and its great for a SD projector and is excellent when playing my HD DVD player.

What I find interesting about the Oyyx pj, is that amongst its specs it has something many pjs don't:
* Premium Branded DLP Projector
* Native SVGA (800 x 600) resolution
* 2100 ANSI lumens
* Contrast Ratio: 2000:1
* 16.7 Million Colours
* 2000 / 3000 Hours Lamp Life
* Projection Position: Front/Rear, Table/Ceiling * 3D colour management in this premium branded projector means you can adjust red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow independently for hue, saturation and value
* Wall Colour Correction: This amazing feature makes it easy to get excellent picture quality with accurate colour rendition even projecting onto a wall or other surface by automatically compensating for its colour
* Presentation Timer: An on-screen timer helps users run presentations with professional ease, while keeping the audience's attention focused on what's onscreen and not their watches
Amazing that it has what appears to be a CMS of sorts whereas some much higher spec pjs with oversaturated primaries don't. Assuming it works correctly of course and does what it says on its tin.

The link is working, and thanks for that - I have just ordered one, it seems perfect for what I have been looking for
It is actually a Benq mp511+ dlp, and the price is £170 + vat, which comes in at just under £200.
Considering that this came up at £270 - £320 when I did a google on it I think it is a total bargain.
I was thinking of spending £400 on something new or secondhand, but considering this has the Golden Colour Wheel and a bulb life of 2000-3000 hrs I don't think I can really go wrong.
Another problem solved thanks to AVForums.

Everything that goes through it will be converted from the input resolution such as 1280 x 1024 to 800 x 600. The only way to display 16:9 is to use a 4:3 letterbox mode which is not as good as a proper 16:9 resolution as you don't make use of anamorphic enhancements with DVD.

If it is DVD or HD-DVD/Blu Ray then a native widescreen would be best as they are mainly widescreen. You will also get better input such as component and HDMI. You don't need to go straight to the HD projectors as there are good non HD ones about.
That projector is no more than what is called a data or business projector and is designed to be used with computers.

thanks for that will go back and look again at all Pj suggested, most of the films will be HD DVD / DVD.
edit: distance in room1 would be 2.5m to 3m i have two place i could put it not measured room 2 yet
edit:
Sanyo Z2 has 16:9 native,
Panasonic AE500 is 16:9 none on ebay though,
Toshiba MT200 poor res.
Infocus IN72 poor res.
