TW2000 (new improved!) screen shot's and thoughts

deleted the original pic's as they do the pj no justice at all.

New pic's added toward end of thread which do a better job.

Re: TW2000 screen shot's and thoughts

Fast coming to the conlusion that posting screen shot's is a bit of a waste of time.

Once the photography, scalling and display screen limitations are taken into account the pic's look rubbish

The scaling from an SD DVD feed via PS3 is superb, black performance is brill, the 'space' in the star wars is INKY black. IE PJ upscalling not the PS3.

Loving this PJ.

Only had one disk that it randomly seems not to like and that's ICE AGE II ? I'm (fairly) sure this particular disk looked more vibrant on the AE2000 but it might just be my mind playing tricks in me as I've watched a lot of hi-def stuff today

The monsters inc and star wars shots are SD and the King Kong stuff via EP35. As usual, no similarity what so ever on the image I'm actually seeing at home

Re: TW2000 screen shot's and thoughts

Thanks for those True-Blue. Although I'm sure the pics do it no justice at all it still gives a reasonable idea of quality, especially blacks in the Star Wars shot and that same shot also has some nice pop.

Not sure if you game much but any chance of a couple of gaming pics?

blacks look crushed in the pic's but in reality the shadow detail is excellent.

Well happy

Well, got to say to my eyes the Espon is quite a bit better than the panasonic.

Black performance is absolutely superb and a real step up over the AE2000, and I'm comparing iris off Epson to iris on Panny.

Performance with SD material is excellent, and again a step up over the panny, not a jaggie in sight.

For me the overall impact is that the image takes on a more solid and 3d feel and depth of field is signifciantly better.

If you take price out of the equation the Epson is easily the winner.

I have to say importing was very easy, and it's easy to obtain a massive saving on the uk price.

Thanks matey great one just as I thought cant understand Epsons overpricing but hey it is rip-off UK were in.... bet the unit itself seems tiny compared to the Panny..?

Re: TW2000 screen shot's and thoughts

It's still a faily sizeable unit, but it's curvy and sexy in a really nice metallic black finish - looks quality.

The panny is definitely bigger, but I sort of expected the Epson to be really small for some reason not sure why.

Re: TW2000 screen shot's and thoughts

may have been me likening the panny to an av receiver with a lens in the middle, the epson is certainly more sexier.

What were the tweaks true blue? I have not touched mine since out of box, was going to get an ISF Job sone later in the year. Does you model have the same colour modes i.e. cinema day, cinema night, vivid, HD, silver screen, xv colour?

Im a noob when it comes to these things, wont be playing around with it for a few weeks tho as im off on my hols.

The pricing in the UK is crazy, glad to see you had no probs with the import. Im happy with the special show price I paid of 2k with the warranties which put it on par with the panny, but I as an early adopter of this PJ and it was a punt at the time based on what I had seen with a total absece of reviews, get that warm feeling inside that only making the right decision can give.

The PS3 and this PJ were like made for each other! I would be interested in the settings on the ps3 as well if I could trouble you, you seem a lot wiser than me, but I am learning quick.

Thanks for the screenies, and have to agree, it looks much better in the flesh.

Re: TW2000 screen shot's and thoughts

Hi RamonD

The options are Dynamic (read 'searchlight' capable of blinding airline piloys at 15,0000 feet), Living room, natural, theater, theater black 1, theater black 2 and x.v.colour.

I've no idea how these relate to the uk options?

I've set my PS3 to 'upscalling off' on the DVD settings menu and I'm letting the PJ upscale - does a very good job indeed, better than the PS3 and that's not too shabby.

My other settings are probably irrelevant to you as it's going to be difficult to compare 'image modes' and I'm using the PJ in a totally blacked out room

In the search light scene - on the screen, the light is bright white and the water in the dock is inky black. loving the contrast

Re: TW2000 screen shot's and thoughts

Mine turned up today. Ended up getting it from B4U after checking the warranty with them.

Only had the chance to run the Goblet of Fire so far with no tweaks or calibration and it looked fantastic. Very pleased.

It a very imposing looking piece of kit. All nice curves and angles. Very well built and designed. The remote feels a bit cheap though.

Only problem I have is that my Vogel wall mount does not fit. Its way to wide for the Vogel plate. Anyone have any recommendations for a wall or ceiling mount?

hi!!
glad you like the tw2000, the best is yet to come
1278HRS(a few more HRS than my last guess) just watched Rambo(2007) still using the low lamp HD mode and the depth of field is truly stunning.
as for the mount try a company called LMP,
http://www.lmp-pc.co.uk/
its a totaly different footprint to the sony i had previously, but they soon sorted a baseplate to fit the epson footprint. speak to Andy.
Enjoy
Best Regards
Nick.

Thanks very much Nick.

I was suprised at how far out the plate was.

I haven't seen too many owner settings, even over at AVS. Not sure if this is indicative at how little adjustment is needed but I'm going to run the Blu-ray DVE through mine and see what we get.

Watching Pan's Labyrinth was a real privilege and highlights your depth of field comments. Some scene's were almost to much for the eye to take in.

Re: TW2000 screen shot's and thoughts

I've mounted mine to the wall with a pair of microwave shelf brackets from B&Q (cost about £12). Blu-tacked a spare glass shelf from an old hi-fi stand to the brackets and the PJ sits nicely on that. Cheap and very effective Although not the best looking install ever, doesn't matter as it's in the garage room.

As to the performance, continues to impress big time, glad your enjoying yours BB'

That may well be my way of doing things as well after thinking about it today.

Going to pick up some shelving bits and see how that turns out before I fork out for another mount.

Re: TW2000 screen shot's and thoughts

This PJ is top of my list at the moment, I want 1080p, 3500:1 or more CR with DLP Blacks, Lens Shift and Decent Zoom for under 1.5k

But, I noticed that the blacks are green in these screen shots, is that something that can be calibrated out? I hate green blacks.

You have thick skin? Hope so as i'm going to be blunt............I know they are only screen-shots but to be honest I don't feel you are capturing the projectors truer capability and ts actually putting me off it.
Can we see some pics of the projector.
