Canon Xeed SX50

Hi, I have a problem with my Canon XEED SX50. Whilst it was switched on the plug was accidently pulled out from the wall without allowing it to cool down.

When I plug it back in, the red light on the power button will not come on and the projector will not switch on at all. I have looked in the manual for possible solutions but the only information it gives is if the power button light is flashing to inform you of different problems such as faulty lamp, faulty PSU etc. It does not mention the power button not lighting up at all.

I can only presume that pulling the plug out has created some kind of surge and perhaps blowing something inside the projector.

I am just wandering if anyone has come across this kind of problem and perhaps has any idea what could have gone wrong?

Also, I am looking for somewhere in the Edinburgh area who would look into fixing a problem like this.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated

Have you checked the fuse in the plug? There's probably an internal glass fuse that may have blown if the fuse in the plug is OK. Without opening it up it's hard to tell. Other than that you may need to send it off for repair.

I have changed the power lead and its still the same. I also opened the projector and tested the glass fuse inside but its still working correctly.

I reckoned I'd have to send it away anyway, just want to find out if anyone has come across this before and what sort of problem it may be before taking it to a shop (to make sure I don't get ripped off)!
