Hitachi HD Projector... Is this worth it....

I am getting the following for £300

Hitachi CP-S240 LCD HD Ready Projector With 85" Remote Electric Screen and ceiling mount.

Bulb has just over 200hrs of usage.
It comes with a carry case + all instructions + remote and is as new condtition.

One question though, it is a HD projector at 1080i or 720p, however inputs on the device do not have a HD port? How does that work then?

Re: Hitachi HD Projector... Is this worth it....

It would probably be able to accept an HD signal over component or VGA. Are you aware it appears to be a 4:3 ratio projector (i.e. non-widescreen)?

EDIT: for the native resolution of the screen are you sure it's worth it?

Thanks... just lookin at the spec.

16:9 format DLP chip in 854x480 resolution

That would make the Hitachi Projector a higher resolution. However the Infocus has a better contrast ratio.

DLP v LCD .... i dont know

With regards to the Hitachi, surely a HD projector must have 16:9 format

If you suffer from RBE(rainbow effect)then a DLP is not the one to buy,you need to do a side by side comparison.Trust me,its worth it

Re: Hitachi HD Projector... Is this worth it....

Surely as a result of the native resolution on the projectors, none of them are ACTUALLY HD projectors? They may well be HD compatible, but not actually HD projectors?

I made this error with my first PJ. Native resolution was 800 x 600. This is a 4:3 picture. As a first projector, it was great. I had a Hitachi CP-RS55 and it was adequate for the job. Kept it 2 years, put 1000 hours on the bulb, perfect.

If you want a TRUE HD projector, you'd want the NATIVE resolution to be an HD resolution surley?

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with either of them (My 360 did look awsome on my Hitachi), but just bear in mind, for that money, chances are it wont be TRUE HD.

Unless I'm wrong. It has happened before...

Re: Hitachi HD Projector... Is this worth it....

Im a little confused, this following projector....

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...link:middle:uk

HD ready etc...

Resolution 1024 x 768 (native) / 1600 x 1200 (resized)
Native Aspect Ratio is however 4:3

Looking at the pix on ebay, ratio is set to 16:9

So does this make this projector a good buy? taking in account ..

Resolution 1024 x 768 (native) / 1600 x 1200 (resized)
Image Brightness 3000 ANSI lumens
Image Contrast Ratio 1400:1
Digital Television Video Formats 480p, 720p, 1080i, 480i, 576i, 576p

How much should this be selling for? taking in account its about £800 new. If i purchase this would it be 'future proof' ?

Displaying a 16:9 image would only allow a vertical resolution of 576.
In other words 'standard defintion' (not HD).

That projector seems a bit overpriced to me.

Paul.
