Question Which is best - JVC DLA HD1 or Epson TW2000

I've narrowed my shortlist to these two projectors, but which one is ultimately the best in your expert opinions.

What are the pro's and con's of each one and why would YOU choose one over the other.

If anyone knows of any dealers in the London area that have demo's of both, please let me know.

Thanks

We have an HD100 and a TW2000 available in our demonstration rooms. They are both superb, however being two different technologies they provide two very different images.

You should try and view them both to formulate your opinion.

They also cost significantly different as well - the D100 vs the TW2000 that is.

Re: Which is best - JVC DLA HD1 or Epson TW2000

I was concerned last night to hear that AVS have stopped selling the Epson Pro 1080UB (same as TW2000 as far as anyone can make out) as nearly 50% had to be returned due to QC problems (mostly convergence).
In fairness Epson seemed to take them all back without issue, but my real concern is that not many places are as accommodating as AVS with regard to QC checks and no quibble refunds.

I also know that JVCs units vary a lot from unit to unit, but I don't remember ever hearing of such a high 'fail' rate from Jason@AVS.

I haven't seen the JVC yet, so I can't really comment on the comparison. But I know one thing which would really worry me with the Epson would be dust blob potential. The JVC is sealed afaik.
Having said that I saw the Epson at the recent Manchester AV show and liked the image a lot. But I guess I was viewing it as a <2k import projector compared to the panny, sharp, HD80 etc. Rather than the uk RRP, which is up against the JVC, VW60, etc.

The JVC has a separate air intake underneath for the optics that has a filter. This should be removed and cleaned every so often as it can clog with dust.

Re: Which is best - JVC DLA HD1 or Epson TW2000

Some of you are comparing the TW2000 with the HD100, not the HD1 (the 15,000:1 contrast ratio and HDMI 1.0 model).

The HD100 is out of my price range whereas the HD1 is similar in price to the TW2000.

You worry me about the 50% returns for the Epson, can anyone else confirm this.
