1080p projector - I NEED LOW COST

Hi.

I'm looking to get hold of a projector. The wall I'm poejcting on is 8ft wide and the picture will project over 7 foot of it.

I need to get hold of a good quality low price(don't like the word cheap) projector. Ideally 1080p.

I'm on a tight budget as I also need a new sound system, seating, walls platering, new carpet/decor etc.

It's difficult to gauge how good they are simpy by looking at date sheets etc. I was hoping some of you can make some recommendations.

Your advice and opinions will be appreciated,

SC

Stating 'I'm on a tight budget' and then not stating what that budget is probably won't help you ellicit many reponses.

Hi Steve,
Ideally we need to know what that 'Budget' is but, I would hesitate in saying, there are no 'Low Cost' 1080p projectors and those that are low cost are not worth mentioning.
Many of the resellers offer demo facilities so you can compare projectors live. If this is not an option for you, you may wish to concider these projectors:

One of the top selling 1080p DLP projectors in the UK has been the Optoma Themescene HD80. At the moment you can find this online for around £1350-£1750 which is 'Low Cost' for this £2000 projector.
One of the LCD projectors we have found which can compare to the Optoma HD80 is the Mitsubishi HC4900 with lots more features including electronic lense shift and a real bargain for the price.

One thing that may help, a few of the 720p (Half HD) projectors are excellent quality. I've put a couple of 720p projectors on during demo's for 1080p projectors and to tell you the truth, everyone mentions the quality and those on a tight budget will find the experience they get from the 720p projectors is still excellent and 720p projectors still offer the 'Wow' factor.

Hope this helps.
