Full hd projector?

Can anybody recommend a good full hd projector that wont break the bank. Im currently using a pioneer lx70, pioneer dv600, canon lv-s3. What would be the best option based on this equipment, ill also be upgrading to bluray soon enough so im looking for something a bit futureproof or would something hd ready be ok? any opinions would be appreciated.

Re: Full hd projector?

You'd have to define 'won't break the bank'. The cheapest 1080p projectors come in at a little short of 2k and go up to silly money.

Re: Full hd projector?

The Mitsubishi HC4900 may be worth a look. There's a review at http://www.projectorreviews.com/mits...4900/index.php and it's priced very well compared to the rest of the 1080 crop. The Sanyo PLV-Z2000 is worth looking at for a bit more money or there's the JVC DLA-HD1 if you want push the boat out!

Re: Full hd projector?

The only thing with the HC4900 is it doesn't process 1080p/24 AFAIK. This may be an issue for the OP if he is going to be buying into Blu-ray.

I think that it does, when i set my XE2 to output 1080p24 my HC4900 info-bar does show 24hz.

Edit... i think thats what it shows.

I stand corrected then.

I saw a spec sheet for the HC4900 the other day and it didn't state 1080p/24 as an accepted resolution.

Re: Full hd projector?

I'm hoping that Themescene will bring out a replacement for the HD80 soon at around £2k, but haven't heard any rumours yet....

Cheers

Not a replacement for the hd80 but a damn good price for a 1080p projector?

Yeah it is a good price, I was waiting until the next generation came out. At the moment I am happy with the HD72, but would like to go Full-HD. I was surprised that nothing had been announced by Themescene yet. For a projector the HD80 is getting long in the tooth now
