cant get a pic on hd70

Hi Guys..

We have a cinema room at the residential school that I work at. We have an optoma HD70 projector connected to a yamaha reciever via component cables.
I am then wanting to send a tv signal through to watch the match tonight.
I tried connecting a video recorder by composite into the back of the reciever and with an af aerial to the wall socket. I was able to get sound but no pic... I then tried to connect a small portable tv but still no joy. I'm not very good at this so please help....

The AV reciever will not up convert to component from composite. If you could get the composite lead to the projector (assuming it takes composite) I believe that will be your only route.

You should have got a vga-scart box with your HD70, u connect the vga end to the HD70 via a vga cable, & plug the scart end into your freeview/sky/vcr (the one labelled tv scart), the HD70 should auto detect that the vga slot is connected, or select vga via remote, & you should get a picture. Not sure about sound, u may have to connect a set of phonos (red & white) from the back of your freeview/sky/vcr to your amp to get sound.
