I have had this projector since Thursday and for £499 the PQ is an improvement on my previous SP4805 projector that i have been using for the last two years.
Without any calibration out of the box the black levels are good, colors are vivid and skin tones appear natural.
For a DLP projector it has a short throw with a 80" image at approx 8ft away.
Occasionally i do notice RBE with this projector, but no more than i was experiencing with the SP4805 which does not really bother me.
The size of this projector is tiny compared to my SP4805 and would be wife friendly, build quality could be better.
Remote controller is user friendly and is a dream to use with large buttons with back light function and operation menus are easy to follow.
Noise level from the fan is a little on the loud side but slightly quieter than the SP4805.
The casing body of the projector does seem to run hot.
So far the only issue i have encountered with this projector is that for some reason my Samsung BD1400 Blue Ray player will not send a picture signal thro the HDMI input on the projector, while my Sony HDMI upscaling DVD has no problems, could be something to do with the HDMI handshake between manufacturers equipment ?
Anybody out there have any ideas would be appreciated.
Due to the above issue the Samsung BD is currently feed to the projector over component at 720p and the picture is amazing.
I am going to buy a Toshiba HD Player this month and will see if there will be any HDMI conflict issues between the two machines.
Unfortunately could not find any prices for replacement bulbs, hopefully fingers crossed the bulbs will be pitched at the same price bracket has the HD70 around the £135 mark ?
This is only a stop gap purchase for me until 1080P projector prices start to tumble down.
If interested could post some screenshots tomorrow, if someone could guide me on how to attached photo's when submitting my posts.
