Sim2 HT200DM Fault - Repair or Replace?.

Hi all, I have a Sim2 HT200DM, which has developed a fault, which I am hoping somebody on the Forums will recognise & be able to help.

The projector has worked great for 5 years, showing 2000 hours useage, but 2 months ago it developed a fault on the composite & S-Video inputs which showed a broad jagged pattern.

Now the Component interlaced signal has gone the same way.

Component progressive were still OK, as was the VGA input.

The signals/inputs are now a bit temperamental & seem to lose sync. when I switch through them. It tends to lock onto an input & wont respond to the remote - frustrating.

The only solid constant image is a direct feed into the VGA from a PC / Laptop (even my IScan Ultra is not recognised) it's getting worse.

Any thoughts / advice?

The firmware is 1.21 DM P(006)

SIM UK thought it might need new capacitors on the pcb, but that going to cost a few hundred, so I have been considering the following as a replacement, all around £600 - £700;

Optoma HD70
Sanyo Z5
BenQ W500
Mitsubishi HC1100

If I can't get it going I will sell it for spares or repair, but that seems such a shame.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I can't help directly with the maintenance issue but I do have an interesting deal for you. I'm an ex pat from the states and I'll be leaving the UK in a few weeks. I can't take any of my stuff with me so I'll be selling it all. I have a Sim2 300e that I'll sell you for £2000. Willing to negotiate.

This is not the place to be discussing personal buying and selling.

I wonder who's best interest javry has at heart. Not the OPs, clearly.

Re: Sim2 HT200DM Fault - Repair or Replace?.

Hi,

I have had a similar problem with my Sim2 HT300 XTRA, however this was broad jagged picture on all inputs. It was solved by the local Sim2 import (I'm based in Dublin, Ireland) by a firmware update/forced replacement.

Worth a try on the HT200?

Regards,
Simon.
