Thanks: Gave 20, Got 14 | HD72, IN76 or IN78, which one? Anybody able to compare?
Hi guys,
Looking to upgrade my current projector. So I have been looking around the forums to see which one to go for. I had originally decided to go for the HD72 as I read a lot of good posts / reviews about it.
However, the What HiFi awards issue has put the In focu IN76 as it's winner for a PJ under 1000k (sorry recent pc re-install has left my pound sign missing). So I was considering that.
And what with Infocus having their own ebay store, I can get that 1k PJ for the same price as the Themescene I mentioned earlier.
Or, have noticed, for just over that 1k mark, I could get the IN78, which uses that Darkchip3 technology.
Now I dont really know too much about projectors, my old one being my first (which I actually quite like, but has no HDMI), and I dont wanna waste anyones time going for a demo, with NO intention of buying anything from them in the first place, although I am aware that seeing for yourself is the best way to do these things.
So I was wondering if any of you guys have had any experience with any of them? Demo'ed them? Or basically any information that may make the descision making a little easier.
Cheers

Hi,
I have had demonstrations on both the IN76 and OPTOMA HD73 (which has Darkchip3 Tech).
I was set on the 76 but after the demo have bought a HD73.
Basically, you need to demo these for yourself! What HIFI gave 4/5 for the Optoma and 5/5 for the Infocus but for me, it's the other way round!!!!
Take it easy
Keir

What was your previous projector?
Look at the HD70 best bang for buck arround at the mo, HD ready, HDMI and pretty much the dark chip 2 version of the HD73, get a free screen with it at places to.

My last PJ was Hitachi CP-RS55
I know this aint a home cinema PJ, and doesn't even do 16:9, but I liked the quality I got for a budget pj. It was my first Pj and I didn't do ANY research, lol.
Anyway, I was a student at the time, and it offered the cheapest replacement bulbs. However, I am now in the land of tax payers, and feel its time for an upgrade. Plus I just got a new AV amp, that'll sit nicley with a PJ in my new house's AV room, lol.
I wasn't really wanting to spend more than 700 sheet on a PJ, but if there was the right PJ I couldn't say no to upping a little. I have just seen this though :
MITSUBISHI HC4900 Full-HD Video projector
Any idea if it'll be any good? Anyone had a demo? I fancy the idea of full HD since my PS3 will be very good with it, and my 360 will be nice aswell, but I do watch a lot of movies aswell. But at 1400 sheet it is a bit of a stretch (well, double), but full HD at this price has gotta be a bargain, no?

All the new 1080p models are just starting to be shipped in, so i'd expect some downward pressure and maybe some last minute christmas deals on maybe the weaker models and 720p ones, also some older flagship models like the sharp in the other thread going for crazy money.
I'd be less concerned about the resolution and more about the picture quality, internal scaling and maybe optical shift for ease of placment.

im looking at a projector too for under 1k, im so tempted by the infocus because of all the positive press, but what about the sanyo z5? lcd, but is there any chicken wire effect with it? supposed to be better contrast than the Optoma's mentioned.....
