How well does your projector upscale?

I've had the Panny AE900 for 18 months now and love it. I've been watching so much HD goodness over the past few months that I forgot how good it upscales SD also. Recently I watched a couple of movies on Film Four (which transmits at the resolution of 544 x 576) and I was impressed by how good the image looked after the Panny had upscaled it. Nowhere near as good as HD of course but still highly watchable and enjoyable. The AE900 must have a great upscaler in it.

How do other makes of projectors compare on the upscaling front?

Gae

Re: How well does your projector upscale?

I've only watched DVD's all feed at 576i from a now ancient sony DVP 725 on my new projector (Yamaha DPX 830 with TI DDP3020 scaler) so far , the scaling is pretty good but does at times depend quite highly on the content.

For example Flight of the Navigator looked terrible, low bit rate or maybe even lower resoultion, but was almost unwatchable in comparision to more normal stuff (unless the component cable came loose and i was watching it through composite somehow :s). Nothing else has looked this bad though, so may have to re-run it to see whats up.

Something like Chronicals of Ridick, Seven, 12 Monekys and last night die hard 4, all look fantastic and are a step above what I had before. These latter really make me question the need for HD DVD/Blue Ray. The de-interlacing of the chip on the otherhand is poor on badly authored discs and combing can be seen quite frequently (well 10+ in a film). On correctly flaged discs like die hard 4 ('m guessing), not one in sight.
