Is this type of velvet suitable to cover white walls?

http://www.efabrics.co.uk/

There are others available such as cotton but more expensive.

Edit. The link i posted doesn't take you to the type of velvet i was posting about. Click on velvet for type of fabrics they sell and scroll to Stretch Velvet Velour.

Any advice on other types of fabric is appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Is this type of velvet suitable to cover white walls?

The picture may be misleading but it looks a bit shiny to me.
The whole trick with using velvet is to 'catch' the light in the fibres, if it reflects itself you would spoil the intention.

Some people use molleton. It is used for stages, by photographers, etc.

I would try to ask in the DYI section

Re: Is this type of velvet suitable to cover white walls?

I used Sorcerer Plush Velvet from eBay for my screen frame and side masking curtains (current number 200170059430), and that worked very well. It has a 'nap' to it so make sure it's all going in the same direction if you're going to make any joins. I tried a few different velvets and felts, but some are more shiny than others. A material that also works well is Maplins felt speaker cloth. I used it for the ceiling and side walls in my HC to reduce reflections and it worked extremely well. It's probably not the best stuff to use on the screen wall as it may allow the white wall the show through, plus you want the screen wall to be 'dead' and not reflective.

I did find black velveteen to be very light absorbent but very hard to find in quantity.

I used Faux suede (Brick) from "247curtains.co.uk". You can order made to measure curtains and add extra spare material to your order.

Red suede curtains - Yeh baby !
