PJ Fan Noise

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any bright ideas on how to reduce fan noise,

I have turned to eco mode, which is quieter, but was wondering if there is anything else I can do, eg environment, fitting a housing over the PJ etc,,

any do's and dont's - as dont want to damage my new toy!

thanks in advance

Re: PJ Fan Noise

If you gaffer tape up the vents it becomes a lot quieter

Otherwise, some sort of housing would help to reflect the sound away.. Is it really so loud?? I never notice mine when watching things!

Re: PJ Fan Noise

Turn the volume up on the amp normally works quite well.

You can go down the DIY route and built a hush box, just google the term and you will get lots of hits.

Personally I've never been that bothered by the fan noise to go to the trouble.

Re: PJ Fan Noise

don't block the vents at all (i.e. with tape). you need to let the projector breathe otherwise the air will not circulate properly and you will find yourself replacing the bulb a lot sooner than you may have liked.

Made me smile mate but even with the smiley those who are completely new to PJ's may actually think that you're being serious and as david@royjowett has warned it wouldn't be a particularly wise thing to do

sorry..

Please dont block the vents.. If your not happy with the noise and possible, try move it firther away from your seating.. I used to have a pj on a tripod that was right behind me. Used to cause lots of noise and a burning feeling in my ear. Now I have one mounted far away from my slightly burnt ears I never notice the noice unless nothing is coming out of my amp.

Re: PJ Fan Noise

Guess the tape is a don't, then. (although it made me laugh loud)

Personally I would wait for a time. It is like wih all the other pj related issues like rainbow effect on DLPs, artefacts, this really, really annoying glitch in this particular scene, etc, etc. as soon as you notice it the first time you will see/hear it all the time.

I heard my pj for a while although it is very silent. I could hear it in the beginning because the specs told me it is very silent

In the meanwhile the 'noise' is cut out from my ears

Re: PJ Fan Noise

Very true Spooney

Me And David also had a little laugh! but thought it was better say something!

As for the noise, I'm sat right next to mine and have totally forgotten about the fan noise although I do have the volume nice and load to make the room shake!

Regards. Shane.
