Computer monitor using a projector

I need some help in that I almost know nothing about projectors, but I would appreciate any suggestions, comments, help, etc on using a projector as an additional monitor for my computer. no games, no tv, just a large computer monitor (projector)...I have the space and the wall..

costing: somewher in the 500 dollar range.........

Has anyone done this???

Thanks
Giscard

Re: Computer monitor using a projector

Before I had my HTPC / Projector combo connected via HDMI from a Sapphire 2400XT I used to connect via VGA. As long as you can match the pixel resolution of the DMD chip ( for DLP ) or LCD panel ( for LCD projectors ) then you'll get a pretty neat image.

As this is a predominantly, but obviously not exclusively, a UK based forum you might be better off asking about a $500 projector over on an equivalent American based forum.
