Does anyone know about http://www.hivizone.com/local-shop/projector.htm?? Is it legit?

Whats the drawback of getting a Hong Kong spec projector? Was just wondering cause the pj's work out pretty cheap this way.

Yip, legit. I had a AE1000 from them a month or two ago and it took 2 working days for delivery. Just add vat and around £90 delivery onto the price you see on his site.

Do a search for hivizone and you will see only good recommendations.

Hmmm, just got a reply from them saying the warranty is only valid in Hong Kong though- any ways round this?

Seriously, I doubt it. I would have thought that it may have had a worldwide warranty though.

"The price of Panasonic AE1000 is US$2,690 and the shipping cost to UK by UPS Express is US$190. Thus, the total amount is US$2,880. The Panasonic AE1000 will work out of the box in UK. It is the same as the one selling in UK. It comes with English on-screen menu and user's manual. However, the warranty is valid in Hong Kong only."

Thats a great deal, I'll send them an email as well regarding this and see what the response is. I know some people in Hong Kong so I could probably ship it back for repair (though obviously incurring the delivery charge) if it had to be repaired by Panasonic HK.

So say it was a Hong Kong item, does anyone know if, for example Panasonic or Sony UK would still repair a PJ albeit by making a charge? Or would they refuse to even deal with it?

As long as there are no killer expensive parts in a PJ then for the discount on offer it might be worth taking the risk?

You do realise that this pj is now available from one of the forum advertisers for £1795 with 3 year warranty
