looking for new pj (hd70,Hitachi PJTX300,Panasonic AX100,

hipeeps
not been on for a while (buisness needs)
but looking at getting a cheapish pj to complete my room .
been reading reviews and all the blog that goes with all of the above pjs but endd up even more confused than i started out at
pj would be 12.5ft from screen (ish )
and the mount would have to be able to let the pj see as there is an rsj at 11ft (ish) that is 220mm deep
(pic attatched)
the pj needs to sit towards the rear wall above our heads i know the pic is crap but the speakers are on the back wall right over where the seats are and above our seated level )
i saw that cyberheater invested in a new pj the Sharp XV-Z3000 any reccomendations m8 i know you are a pj enthusiast.??

ive got a grand absolute max to spend but would prefer £800.00 the missus says
source mainly would be hd-dvd and upscaled dvd and hopefully sd-sky (potentially sky hd )for footy etc (would love to watch CSI ,CRIMINAL MINDS etc cinema style.

any ideas or reccomendations appreciated

The panny ax-100 is a great choice, i have just made a post in the main panny thread with some pics i recently took (scroll to bottom):

Panasonic AX100 impressions and screenshots

Hope that helps.

Re: looking for new pj (hd70,Hitachi PJTX300,Panasonic AX100,

The main problem with realistically priced DLP machines is that they have a fixed offset.
If you went for something like a Optoma HD70, Mits HC1100 or the like then you really are looking at having it mounted upside down and quite close to the ceiling for it to fit in you room.
LCD machines like the Panny AX100 are very flexible. Basically, due to the lens shift, you can have them on a shelf behind you with no problems at all.

I personally prefer the 'real world' contrast of DLP machine compared to LCD's and if you can get it to work in your setup then I would recommend the Optoma HD70 for around 650 quid. A bargain really.

The Sharp Z3000 has a short throw lens that wouldn't suit you setup and was available for short time for around 560 quid and is an absolute bargain but you'll not get one for anywhere near that price now.

The Panny AX100 is said to be a great machine but i've never seen one in use so I really can't comment.

Good luck.

Nice one carl1010_1. I've had a few pannys now and they all have been great machines.

Hi Carl1010_1, Thanks for the top recommendation
Couldn't agree more with the comment on picture per pound. The 100 really is an all-round fantastic pj, and if anyone looking to use it in slightly brighter conditions, like carl said, to watch footy, then the superior brightness will be perfect for this. Hope you enjoy your PJ!!!

Re: looking for new pj (hd70,Hitachi PJTX300,Panasonic AX100,

A plug for the Tx300, as its also very good, slighty cheaper than the panny and a cool looking PJ!! A work colleague recently demoed the panny and hitachi and walked away with the hitachi. However, if your room is not completely dark the Panny probably has the edge for that.

cheers

I did exactly the same two days earlier - nice 5 hour trip from Worcester, brought a 92" screen as well - loving it much better than my last projector.

Oh and totally agree on the great service provided by the staff.....oh and i loved the tannoy speakers in the demo room.
