Thanks: Gave 14, Got 0 | Poor display threw a Tv turner card to PJ, but ok on TV
Hi All,
I have a PJ, best purchase ever, only has 800x600 native but sweet for what I need.
Everything goin threw a Powered Switch box.
Have Xbox and PS2 working sweet, Composite.
Computer and xbox 360 Super sweet, VGA port.
But then I run my TV signal to computer back to the TV again, picture 100% sweet (happy with that, long cable), but when I run it to my PJ, picture is messed up, like the colours are not being decoded probally.
I have tested TV signal with Composite, SVideo same fault, colors seem wrong bad piicture but TV remains fine (normal desktop fine also). I have also upgrade drivers, directX, software, disabled background program, hardware accelleration up and down. Used different cable (shorter) Have tested Dscaler also. Have checked with Deinterlacing no and off, no better. Tried the test images (colour and black lines) they look fine.
My Question (at last) Im I missing something, the signal to TV goes longer over a longer cable but always sweet. I believe its either a deinterlacing or Im mad.
Any ideas on this would be great.
Thanks You All.
AVforum is the best.

By TV signal do you mean an aerial cable?
Are you then saying the TV tuner in the PC, connected to the projector, is giving you an issue? Does it look ok on the PC screen itself?

Hi Liam,
Thanks for the POST.
Yes, using an analog Aerial Cable (NTL cable).
Yes only happens threw the PJ, fine on TV (using a splitter or without, Expensive cables and short ones)
Its really not just bad display but the colours look incorrect. Checked the video cards gamma, hue. And the TV card software Gamma etc.
I'm lost (but cant watch it threw TV cable)
Thanks

Ok so you are saying you come out of the NTL box using an aerial, and go into the TV Tuner card on the PC? The PC then tunes into the cable box and outputs VGA to the projector? Yet the PC screen itself is correct, so we can assume the TV tuner is working OK. Am I right so far???
First thought, is unless you have a really old cable box you would be better to send a scart signal directly to the projector.

Hi Liam,
Yes NTL box using aerial to computer.
Then Computer via Svideo to PJ or
Computer via Svideo converted into Scart to PJ or
Computer via composite into coverted scart or
Computer via VGA (not best option for me as Computer/360 VGA connection)
BUT the TV picture is still fine
and Computer displaying Downloaded content is perfect.
I even checked the setting on NTL (not many) to see if anythig was relavent)
But I tried them all. Thought one would work (Svideo best picture was expecting)
3 hours of plugging in and out and test differnt cable (heard cheap cables can cause poor image, using proper Shielded cabling). Nearly drivin to drink.
It should work (Murphys law).
I thought be Deinterlaying, as not 1to1 pixel mapping as other Video sources from computer work.
Be nice to have it rocking for Sport thou

Why is there a problem using VGA from the PC for viewing TV given that you are already using VGA from the PC anyway???
With video from the PC the PC is probably deinterlacing, scaling, and then reinterlacing and downscaling back to video again!! Hence, if possible, can you just run scart from the cable box???
