Kramer,
Felling a little irritable waiting for you new toy ??? (Wink, Grin)
Obiwan,
OK m8, here goes.
If the plug on the end of a vga cable has pins in it then its "male".
If the plug (or a socket on a pj, pc, ProV, whatever) has a solid surface with holes in it, its female. To get your thinking on male female sorted, think of the pins as willies, and the holes in the sockets as ...... well...... you get it now ?
To connect the out of the ProV (female) to the input of the Projector (female) you need a male/male VGA cable. If you have a male/female VGA lead, then you can get a gender changer, (from Maplins) which is a small gizmo which has male pins on both sides, plugging in to the female end of the cable, changing it to male.
There are two VGA sockets on the back of the ProV, the one on the left as you look at the back of the ProV is the output - it sends the signal to the projector. The one next to it is the Pass thru - you can connect a PC to this, and when you press the "PC/TV" button on the remote control, it will send the signal from the PC straight to the output of the ProV, and on to the Projector. Check the pictures in the manual if you're still in doubt.
Most of us come to this hobby with some basic knowledge of how to connect up the various bits and pieces, and some understanding of the terminology, gained from a PC/tech background, surfing the net, whatever. You seem to have missed this phase, and I'm more than happy to help anywhere I can, as are most guys her - it is a community effort, and you're welcome to anything most of us can offer. I would advise you, if at all possible, to find someone with basic knowledge of this type of stuff who lives somewhere near you and get them to give you an hour of their time explaining the basics to you - it'll be a lot clearer than trying to explain in text.
Good luck,
Sean G.
