I get a little confused when it comes to adjusting the
Red Blue & Green settings on my plv30 using avia.
Setting overall colour is straight forward enough,
but can avia help me with the indivigual elements
any ideas anyone.

Hi Rory,

Yes it can. Go to Chapter 7 (Calibrations). Under "Special Tests" select the first one: "Color Decoder Test".

You can use it to check up the "Push" your PLV30 is inducing to any of the 3 RGB colors.

You use the colour filters on that part, similar to earlier tests. Adjust the colours until the 0% square on the coloured bars match the background colour - or near as dammit!

...But, actually, overall "push" is a question of personal preference and projector performance.

I like to calibrate my PLV30 with a +15% "push" on red, but what do I know...

The colour decoder check doesn't work like this. It is for analysing the accuracy of the decoded saturation's individual components. You can only compensate for Red push by lowering you saturation.

The RGB on a projector refer to the mix that creates the absolute white point or white balance of your projector even if there was no colour in the signal.

However by lowering the R of the RGB settings you will lower greyscales Red component and the picture will seem more G/B, but across the white element of the picture not the saturation.
