Re: optoma themscene hd80

Hi Stel

I bet, I am not the only one who is interested to read about how you got on with your HD80! I am still in the process of doing my research. I have a budget of just under 2K, to blast on a projector and have been looking at the Infocus 78 for a while. I would be keen to compare it to the HD 80, which is also on my list of PJs to demo. I wonder if you had demoed a few PJs first, before you purchased this one? what was it that made you bight the bullet? Are you pleased with it so far? So, do you fancy having a go at doing a review for us all? I know, it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Pottydave

P.S. I thought you got a good deal by the way.

OK, no problem. However, have you demoed any other PJs? What made you order this one?
Thanks

Re: optoma themscene hd80

its the fact that the hd80 is due out stopped me from ordering a pt-ae1000 at the weekend as I want to see how it stack s up. only dc2 I believe though I've never had a prob wth the darks on my h56.Don't know why but I cannot shake the feelin that the ae1000 will come out on top in the reviews as a dlp for less than an lcd somehow don't feel right

Re: optoma themscene hd80

sorry folks for the delay in posting.Naturally I will fill you all in.
But some questions answered from above to me choosing this one.

I have tested other PJs aswell and mightily impressesd with them

I have seen the higher spec hd81 in action and wow...happy to go with optoma, even on a lower spec machine.

Choosing this 1 cold is a risk naturally, however price is a major factor for me,room is wired for 1080p and 1.3hdmi, and seen as this is my very first projector I dont think its right i go in straight away for a 4k machine, feel I need to show the whole projector thing some respect and cut my teeth with a lower but seemingly suitable machine.
(I cant stand when people just passed their tests and daddy buys em a £20k straight away when not experienced or worthy yet-if you understand this then you will see where I am coming from).

I am more than happy to learn my trade at the hands of optoma and then see where I am in 2 years.

£2k's worth of projector is hardly low end though is it.

Enjoy the PJ when it arrives.

Re: optoma themscene hd80

As someone who lived with optical lens shift (sharp z9000) for several years and then switched to a projector that doesn't have it (current one) without thinking about it, I will not be making that mistake again. From my personal view the difference it makes far exceeds 1080p vs 720p etc.

Therefore for me that writes off this projector and the new infocus 1080p on. Leaving me with the Panasonic and JVC.

I was hoping this one would give me another option. Oh well back to square one

Without a doubt for a UK model with a free screen and hdmi cable it is great value, of course assuming the picture stacks up.

Re: optoma themscene hd80

Have we got any idea on what length of warranty it will come with. Ive got cash burning a hole in my pocket and a couple of new HD sources ready to go. Its this or the pana and time feels to be dragging before this one is released.

Optoma traditionally offer a 3 year warranty with their PJ's.
