Bargain Optoma HD72i

Just thought I'd post what I think is an absolute bargain - The Optoma HD72 HD Ready projector for less than the current HD70 model..

See www.morgancomputers.co.uk - Selling these brand new for £587 inclusive of VAT.

They have great reviews on Google and have HDMI, HDCP DVI and component inputs...

Mine comes tomorrow, can't wait - Cheapest I've found anywhere.

Hope this is of some use!

Good deal but make sure it's not a refurb, Themescene sometimes do this after a model has been chopped.

That is exactly what i thought looking at the price. Morgan often sells refurbished items. However recently they have been selling new PJs like DV10 with full warranty.

Benji, if the Hd72 is new can a buyer expect a full 3 yr warranty? or is it like warranty varies from retailer to retailer

Re: Bargain Optoma HD72i

Well in order to get the 3 year warranty you have to usually buy from an authorised home cinema dealer - if the retailer only sells end of line and refurb stuff from Themescene it might be that the loss of the three year warranty has been compensated for in the low price?

Best to ask the retailer direct I think, but as it doesn't say anything to the contrary I'd assume 1 year.

Thanks Benji for the clarification. I called up both Morgan and Optoma. Here are the responses

Morgan
1. It is 1 year warranty and the item is new. The guy was not sure about the warranty rather he said as it is mentioned it would be 1 yr.
2. They have a good stock...Tip forsomeone looking for this fantastic HD72 at such a low price...
3. Warranty - If any defect occurs you have to send it to Morgan and not optoma.... whereas normally the manufacturer takes care of this for this model

Optoma
1. Hd72 do have a 3 yr warranty. That is normal unless it is a refurb or end of line as Benji said.
2. Asked me to confirm with retailer.
3. A sales person will contact me today to clarify if a HD72 is purchased from Morgan what would be the warranty.

Re: Bargain Optoma HD72i

Hi,
Just received my HD72i - Brand new, all packaging new and sealed and warranty document states European Warranty is at least two years.

I had a HD70 before this, warranty on that was three years, so this shouldn't be any different.

Off to fire it up now.

Re: Bargain Optoma HD72i

I think i'm right in saying that the minumum euro warranty is 2 years, but the minimum Brit warranty is 1 year - we seem to have opted out of that one!

Re: Bargain Optoma HD72i

Can this pj be placed left or right of the screen, or does it have to be square on/central ?

Re: Bargain Optoma HD72i

How would this compare with the XV-Z3000? The projectorreviews.com doesn't go too in depth but they seem to be around the same price range at full retail so are they compairable in quality (other than the XV-Z3000's noise issue)?

Thanks!
