Dust in AX100

My AX100E is great but as I get used to it I notice things. It looks like I have dust INSIDE the lens and on the mirror. Its not impacting on the pic but its there. How do I get rid of this and is this normal ?? You can only see it when the bulb is on

I'm not a professional but try dusting your house, wait a few hours then put a summer fan next to it blowing into where you think the dust got in. then work on how to stop more getting in

Re: Dust in AX100

There are loads of little specs of dust that appear inside the lens when my PJ is on, but they do not effect the picture at all. When you turn the projector on, the light illuminates all the room dust in it's path, but it doesn't effect the image on the screen because it is so small relative to the picture.

What is more unfortunate is if you have a large blob of dust much nearer the mirror inside the projector. Even though my Benq W100 says it has a sealed optics, a hair and some dust managed to get into the light path close to the source.

The dust blob I had was really visible in dark scenes as a large halo in the bottom right. On my 75" screen it was almost 8" in diameter, similar to a television station's watermark.

I tried blowing compressed air around the lens to no avail. I removed the bulb and blew air in and around the inside of the case but that didn't help either.

In the end, I had to open up the case and remove the whole lens array. The dust was on the outside window of the first lens, so it was easily cleaned up and put back together again.

Check in the dark scenes of your films. If everything is displayed fine, just give the house a dusting and continue using the projector. If there are some weird artifacts on screen you may need to clean the innards.

I have the same issue with my AE900. There appears to be a huge amount of dust behind the lens in the optics where I obviously can't get at to clean out, but it doesn't *seem* as though it's affecting the picture quality.

I assume its just a result of the projector living in a dusty environment i.e. a living room with carpet.

BTW it says in the manual - "Ask an Authorised Service Centre to clean inside the projector at least once a year".
