PS3 1080p/24hz output with the JVC-HD1?

Hi,
With the 1.80 update for the PS3, I've been looking forward to having 24hz output off my Blu-ray discs. However, I'm not sure if I've actually got it setup right
Hitting the "info" button on the HD-1 just says that the signal is 1080p (more info would be handy...). Hitting the "select" button on the PS3 during playback just shows the output resolution, 48khz (which is presumably the audio...), etc.

Is there a way to confirm the settings and signal are getting through correctly? Or are there any titles/scene recommendations which will provide good tests for 24hz playback?

Currently, I've got the PS3 hooked up via HDMI to the HD1 via a Denon AVC-A11XVA.

The PS3 is set to:
24hz output - Automatic
Output res - 1080p
Super White - On

Denon is set to:
Upscaling - off
HDMI mode - passthrough

HD-1 is set to automatic (rather than specifying 4.2.2, etc.)

Any help would be much appreciated!
Cheers,
MikeM

The "info" option in the JVC service menu reports resolution and vert freq. If the PS3 is sending a 1080p/24 signal the JVC will report a vert frq of 47.96hz which is correct.

Re: PS3 1080p/24hz output with the JVC-HD1?

Like mine! i have the 1080p/24 working well. Some people on the other forums are expericing problem going through there amps via hdmi the ps3 is not picking up it automatically where mine and yours are. They told me when they bypass the amp the ps3 then register it automatically. At first they thought it was a problem with the ps3 until I told them it works well with my amp. These people have the JVC-HD1 also but some of them have a yammy or a pioneer etc.Mine and yours being the the A series of the Denon there really is not much we can't do, we basically can accept just about anything.I always say denon is advance when it comes to the new stuff.

Well you need to know what sequence to send from the remote but thats all.

IIRC Up, down, right, left then enter keys in quick succession from the remote. Do so at your own risk.

Thanks for the info guys. Will have a look...service menus hold no fear for me (once I know how to access them ;-)

24p is often used as a generic reference to a signal that is actually 23.98hz. IIRC the origin of this number rather than 24 dead is to do with audio sync.

The JVC frame doubles this and reports 47.96hz.

Thankyou AVI. just checked it works well.I was told here in Aus that the public was not allowed to have the service code.It was meant to be a series of numbers, looks like I was told a lie.
