JVC DLA-HD1 cost / VPL-VW50 resale value

Hi - I just wondered if Ivojo is perceived to have the best pricing, more or less, on the JVC DLA-HD1?

Also - I wondered what forum members considered as a fair price for a (my) VPL-VW50 if I were to sell it and get the JVC DLA-HD1?

Just interested in views at this stage. Thanks, Paul

Re: JVC DLA-HD1 cost / VPL-VW50 resale value

Hi Paul,

From what I have read, Ivojo appears to be the lowest although Progressive AV have a special price for AVForums members....on their website the JVC appears to be around £3.6k IIRC.

The factors that I would assume need to be considered for pricing the Pearl would be:
  • Is it a UK model?
  • How many hours has it done?
  • How old is it?
  • How is the mis-convergance on it?
  • The RRP has fallen since the Pearl was launched.

Just in case you weren't aware, the remainder of the 3-year Sony warranty is transferable to the new owner.

You may also wish to consider the newer models coming out into the market in the coming months (i.e. the VW-60). The longer you leave it the further the price will drop.

I'm in the market for a 1080p PJ and may be interested in yours should you put it up for sale.

Steve

That one had very high usage though....on the other hand another one did not sell for £2250; probably due to the location of the buyer more than anything.

Thanks for this, early days yet anyway. Not sure of hours or any convergence issues but that would be easy to check. If I do decide to sell I will probably do so via the forum classifieds.

Its from Sony Belgium, bought while I was working there for a while, with a 3 year Sony Europe warranty.

I have heard about the VPL-VW60 & it does sound interesting, but not quite a JVC.

The price on our website is not an AVForum price...

I mentioned the VW-60 not as an alternative but as a consideration if selling the Pearl. The nearer the VW-60 is to release the more potenial there is that people will use it to drive down the re-sale value of the Pearl.

No, understood. Have never known anything to drop in value as fast as projectors! I bought a SimHT300 a few years ago for £7.5k; it would be worth pence now I imagine!

Tell me about it - the Sim2 D80 dropped a grand within 4 months of launch!! As did the HD81.

Mind you the price of a 42" SD plasma four years ago is MORE than a 50" 1080p one now....

Re: JVC DLA-HD1 cost / VPL-VW50 resale value

With other 1080P projectors available now for under 2K, with more coming very soon, I doubt you'd get over 2K now for a 2nd hand Pearl.

The Amethyst VPL-VW60 sounds very promising at the moment from early reports, especially if it can come in at over 1K cheaper than the JVC with almost similar performance.

What is a 2nd hand Pearl worth now??? Depends on a number of factors but at a guess I'd say somewhere in the region of £1600 to £1900.

Although the JVC is better in many areas than the Sony the additional outlay IMO wouldn't be worth the marginal improvement.

If you were buying new now, no question get the JVC..

At the end of the day though it up to your eyes and wallet to decide if the upgrade is worth it.
