Infocus 72 HD

Hi all,

I am referring to the wisdom of you all here. I have the In72 connected with a PS3 (HDMI direct) and Xbox360 (component via Sony STR-DG700 amp).

I want to watch blu-ray discs using the PS3 and HD discs via the HD player for the 360. What kind of quality should I be getting and what brand cables should i use?

I just tested Casino Royale on dvd and blu-ray via the PS3 and noticed a difference (but not as much as I would like - is this to do with the PJ being 480 native?). Projecting from about 4.9 metres (16 feet) using a cableuniverse.co.uk HDMI low premium 7.5 metre cable, and using the biggest screen size available. What can I do to get better PQ? Also the PS3 is up to date in its firmware settings, if that helps (I think I read somewhere on here that updating it has improved playback).

Thanks in advance

Re: Infocus 72 HD

Firstly as you have stated its a 480p projector so its native resolution is only 480p so no matter what signal you feed it be it 576p (pal dvd) or HD 720 or 1080 the projector will have to rescale it to 480p

This means that while you may be able to feed it an HD source it will never display it in its full resolution. That said its a very good pj and well worth the money so its a good choice providing you are not expecting to view HD images in their native form.

Do you have a screen or are you projecting onto a wall?

Cables be it hi fi or otherwise seem to divide opinion more than anything else, if you notice a difference fine, if not don't bother spending loads of cash
