Themescene HD72i & 1080p?

Morning, when i play blu-ray discs through the PS3 on my HD72i I get a message saying it is playing in 1080p. I'm quite sure this is not the case but anyone know why? Pitcure looks crisp nonetheless.

Re: Themescene HD72i & 1080p?

Hi DTS Man. I've been doing the same, I've been messing about with PS3 Blu Ray on my HD72i. The pixel res for the PJ is 1280x768 so it accepts the 1080p signal then scales it to fit. It does look great.

My main concern though has been with the new update for 24fps BR playback from the PS3. The PJ will accept 1080p at 72Hz (multiple of 24) but I can only get 1080p/60. If anyone knows how this works I would like to know if there is a chance of having true 24fps playback (if not it's no big deal, it's not something I was banking on). Anyone care to clarify?

Anyhow, off topic but for me it could be a swinger in BR favour unless Toshiba come up with some sort of update to allow 24Hz. It's certainly on the list of absolute priorities for my next TV/PJ.

I too would like some clarification.

Re: Themescene HD72i & 1080p?

Just thought I would update this thread, now that forced 24fps playback is available on the PS3. The HD72i will accept a 1080p/24 signal, and show it as '1080p@24Hz' on the info display.

However, without being too technical in my means of testing, I can't see the difference between films played back at 24 and 60Hz. I looked at a few scenes from a few different films that I know judder on certain panning shots. So unfortunately it seems to me that the 24Hz video is processed in the PJ and output as 60Hz.
