Question (Advice) Epson TW-1000 Buy or no buy?

Hi Guys!
Newish to this side of the forums but I'm stuck for a bit of advice.
I'm in a position to buy this Epson projector. Cleared it with SWMBO too. But, am I paying to much for it? http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...H7D&PageMode=1
I know I'll get a free PS3 with it, but still? I like it and so does my wife, I just need to make sure I'm not making a big mistake.
My thinking behind it is that I won't upgrade for years (Sold on my Sammy SP50L7 and LG 42px3rv after <18 months) with it being HDMI 1.3 and 1080p etc!
Some reassurance is needed from you knowledgeable folk on here.
Thanks in advance,
John.

I am sure that there is another deal somewhere cheaper than this, I can't think where that is right now but don't buy just yet as I am sure someone will let you know.

If you are looking for a 1080p LCD projector, consider the Mitsubishi HC5000.
It is quieter, sharper and brighter in best mode than the Epson. Give IVOJO a ring, I think they were doing it for around £1850.

Re: (Advice) Epson TW-1000 Buy or no buy?

Just been looking at the projectorreviews, review of the TW1000 and Art Feierman states the following:

' Of the three 1080p LCD projectors, this is my new favorite '

Plus goes on to say..

' Still, the Home Cinema 1080 has a killer list of strengths, the most significant are:

It's brighter than the competition.
It's the most flexible (although not by much compared to the other 2 LCD models).
It's out of the box colors are pretty impressive, as is black level performance.
It's got a great warranty, and support program.
And, if that weren't enough - it costs less than any other 1080p projector at the time of this writing '

Even more interesting is that I have found it on sell here for under £1800.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRAND-NEW-Epso...QQcmdZViewItem

Probably an EU import but still a great saving on the price of the PT-AE1000.

Is it just me or is anyone else tempted by that???

If you're planning on using a PJ with Blu-ray or HD DVD you want to double check it with accept a 1080p/24 signal input and then process it properly i.e. internally refresh at a multiple of 24. If it doesn't there will be image judder due to what called 3:2 inverses telecine and it bugs plenty of people. I believe the Epson will accept the signal trype but then goes on to refreshes at 60hz so it doesn't elimate judder.

I also woudn't get hung up on HDMI 1.3. Features such as deep colour are not even in the DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray specs ! By the time they are we will probably have HDMI 1.4.
