lcd panels

hi
novice was wondering whats the bizz on the lcd palels. i see on the pj's like the sony they are so and so size with say 3 mill pixels if thats the case, and their is 3 panels how many pixels hit the screen as stated. are their 3 mill on the screen or are they on top of one another i understand a bit about in fill

manufacturers will always quote the biggest number they can get away with.

So on an LCD pj with 3 million pixels, it will have 3 million pixels. But that will be divided between the 3 panels required to project the red/green/blue light to make the final image. So each panel will have 1 million pixels, and the final image will have 1 million real colour pixels.

You can get a clue on this from the stated native resolution of the device - eg the Sony's have a quoted resolution of (IIRC) 1366X768. Work this out and it comes to 1,049,088.

hi thanks for the info so we aint getting that many pixs on the screen at one time. can they get any more on the panels than they do now .is it poss the more pixs the better the picture yes
