Projector V's Plasma

Hi, i've had plasmas for the last 6-7 years now & thinking of maybe dipping my toe in for a projector. I will go view some if i decide to by one but can any projector owners tell me how the picture compares to a good plasma. I have a panny 50hd8 at the moment & poss thinking about the new panny AE1000, any opinions welcome.
Ta.

Re: Projector V's Plasma

two very diiferent pictures produced, i have a panasoinc plasma and projector, the projector can hold it's own but the projector beats the plasma for movie viewing hands down. the projector has a smoother silk like image compared to the plasma with little to no noise, the plasma has more brightness and looks better on dark scenes but i have an old ae700, im sure the newer generation projectors could beat my plasma, the new jvc hd1 can produce a true deep black so the weakness is gone and so the projector wins easy.

Re: Projector V's Plasma

Good projectors tend to handle video processing better than most plasmas and LCD tvs. By that I mean with plasmas and LCD, you get motion artifacts, jagged edges to image lines and other video processing related imperfections.

On most quality projectors, the image is much more smoother, solid and closer to actual film. The JVC DLA HD1 is one of the very best in this regard and also has stunning blacks and bright whites which give the image a real 3D effect. You will also need a decent screen to project onto, but a 92" image from a good projector will really take your breath away in a way that a 42" plasma can never do.

But they aren't practical as an only display source as you really need total darkness. So keep your plasma for general viewing and buy a PJ for those special occasions!
