Red face Does D-ILA = 3LCD (cringe)

Sorry for the ignorance here but I have read the glossies and cannot get it. Can someone let me know if the JVC DLA-HD1 (D-ILA direct drive image light amplifier) bascially using 3LCD technology? I don't mean to oversimplify the technology used (for the proud owners of this very fine machine) but I am trying to draw parallels in its performance to other 1080p 3LCD units currently available. If its not the 3LCD seiko/epson then what is it? Did they develop it inhouse?

Have a look at this document from JVC, which explains the history and workings of D-ila

http://pro.jvc.com/pro/attributes/pr...e/DILAguid.pdf

Very simply, it uses some aspects of both LCD and DLP technology with the hope to produce a better, almost hybrid technology. And it does it very well.
