Sony VOL-EX1 Lamp Light Flashing

Have a Sony VPL-EX1 projector and the Lamp/Cover light is flashing where the power plugs into. We have changed the bulb for a new one and the error is still persisting.

Anyone have any ideas about the cause of the problem?

Cheers

Kimbie

Have you reset the lamp counter, you will need to do this so the Projector knows the lamp has been changed.

Dont think I can get that far.

Get a blue screen as if its wiating an input then goes off and the light starts to flash.

Re: Sony VOL-EX1 Lamp Light Flashing

Try this- plug it in so the red light is on, then on the remote press 'Reset', 'Left', 'Right' and 'Enter' within 5 seconds. Try it a couple of times if it doesn't work first time around.

Re: Sony VPL-EX1 Lamp Light Flashing

Hi Guys,

Just an update and a fix (obviously normal rules apply, this is high voltage equipment, anyone not competant with a screwdriver shouldn't really fiddle etc etc)

Problem was actually with the electronic lens cover.

I opened the projector and removed the top lid being careful not to damage the ribbon cable twixt lid and projector.

In front of the lens there is a removable array of components which is connected by a grey cable set. I took this out

Once out the array has a grey plastic tube attached centrally inside a semi enclosed shaft this fell out in my hand.

5 screws secure the shaft enclosure, I removed these

Once the shaft was fully visible I could see the problem, the shaft is threaded and is turned by a motor driven worm, along the shaft travels a small white plastic collar, this in my case was damaged and no longer held tightly a black plastic arm.

The black plastic arm is used for two purposes, opening and closing the lens cover and also extending and retracting the tilt "leg"

I super glued this black arm back to the white collar and replaced the grey plastic "leg" onto the shaft.

at this stage ensure the black plastic arm is located on the peg on the linear rheostat (not the right word but you will see what i mean)(this feeds back the location of the arm to the projector), and also ensure it is beneath the lens covers white lever.

screw it all back together and bobs your uncle, I hope this helps someone else.

Rgds

Chris
