any one else tempted by the Epson EMP-TW1000 from japan with 2 years interantional wa

I am quite close to upgrading to the HD73 projector which no dout will cost me £1300.

Looking at the price for price japan for the Epson EMP-TW1000 I can get it deliverd for £1380 and best off all it will come with 2 years International warrnty which to be honest is the main reason why I am thinking of buying it, as the thought of having to send the Pj back for repairs to japan seems like a exspensive nightmare.

Any one else tempted by the Epson EMP-TW1000 for £1380 with 2 International warranty ?

seems like a offer not to be missed for people on a lowish buget like my self, when that kind of money can only get you a 720p projector in the UK

any one used this company B4 ?? did you get stung with tax ?

Re: any one else tempted by the Epson EMP-TW1000 from japan with 2 years interantiona

I've looked at the TW1000 and I'm fairly sure the Price Japan model is a Japanese domestic white model which will only come with a return to Japan domestic warranty

However, if you buy from Hong Kong - say Hivizone then you can get the projector with Epsom's 2 year International warranty for around £1500, plus it's the black TW1000

Another option is one of the AVS forum member who is out in Hong Kong - Superfly77, he's sold a few TW700's (with Int warranty) to people in the US with good feedback - see the TW700 thread on AVS, and he also goes by the name diewiththemosttoys on ebay - when the TW1000 is more readily available in HK he should be selling those aswell

I'd still like to see what they start selling at in the UK, a 3 year onsite warranty would be even nicer, but I suspect the price will be nearer £3k at which point it becomes a no brainer to import

I'm very tempted, I've been looking at the Epson for a while now as I'm moving flat and my new setup needs more horizontal lens shift than my AX100 has. About to sell the AX100 so it will be either the TW700 or TW1000.

Tempted over here in Canada. The newer 1080p lcd's seem to be better with their blacks and contrast but I think some dlp still has darker blacks, but mostly only the higher priced units. For me, it's either the Epson TW1000, one of the other 1080p lcds or the JVC RS1u and I cannot afford that particular luxury JVC model just yet

Re: any one else tempted by the Epson EMP-TW1000 from japan with 2 years interantiona

No idea what hivizone's reputation is like other than a few AVS forum members bought Epson projectors, TW700's and TW1000's from them recently and have so far had good service. Price Japan has a decent reputation. Eastporters has been great with ship back insurance and extended warranty options, although I am not sure when they will be back up and running full steam. Just what I read on the forum. It is worth researching as an option. Also, since the projectors superfly diewiththemosttoys is getting are from HK his will have the same 2 year international warranty of course.

Re: any one else tempted by the Epson EMP-TW1000 from japan with 2 years interantiona

what exactly would an international warranty cover.

ie if it broke would i have to pay for it to be sent to HK or could i take it to a UK dealer for repair.

I second that, what exactly happens if a UK guy has a projector from china/japan and it is covered with International warranty, can we get it fixed in the UK, or will it only get fixed in the country you bought it from.

This is all the info I need B4 I buy one abroad

The warranty for the HK Epson units are covered in the countries listed in their warranty. Parts and labor for the first year, maybe even for the second year too. I don't know of any other projectors with that kind of international warranty.

anyone know what sort of tax and customs you would have to pay by importing this projector.

I also am in the fortuante position of being in Hong Kong during March 2007 and have placed a reservation with them so i can pick one up there.

Just wondering what the cutoms charges would be if the thing will not fit in my suitcase and i will need to have it delivered.

Well I am ordering this from HiViZone. been told I can get it fixed if I have any problems with it in the UK. Will all so put a low value on the parcel, so I will just declare about £300 rather than being to greedy

total = £1500... All so on a Japanese site this came top of the other LCD 1080p projectors on the market according to the review

Declaring low value is a gamble. One of two things could happen to ruin your party:

A) If it's damaged, lost or stolen, you are out whatever the difference between the insured value up to what it actually cost you.

B) Customs feels like popping open your box and sticking their nose in their and re-valuing your package according to what they think it's worth.

In Canada, I believe we don't pay duties because it can be declared as a PC or computer display, but I think we could end up paying taxes on the declared amount.

There was a japan site that reviewed the latest 1080p projectors and this one got the highest score, out of the mits , panasonic etc

Its the 2 years international warranty that is appealing to me, and its not going to be a million miles a way in picture Quality to the other projectors if not better from the review score.

That's the korean site you just posted, right? I am checking it out. I was asking about the Japan site review. Maybe there is no Japan review site.

Re: any one else tempted by the Epson EMP-TW1000 from japan with 2 years interantiona

any one give me some advice on how to best go a bout this import duty tax ?

The people from http://www.hivizone.com/local-shop/projector.htm said they will mark it down at any amount I say. So should I mark it down at a couple of hundred or something ?? or just keep it as a low value and ask them to mark it as a gift ?

I fully understand all the troubles I can have of it not being insured for the full amount etc so I don't need any scare stories please.

Hopefully someone with experience off ordering overseas and getting a way with paying high tax can advise me

This is unlikely to be a welcome response to your request but I doubt that Admins would be happy to have the forums used for that purpose....... I'd be inclined to back off the topic............. a friendly hint.

Take a look at TARIC codes here:

http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs...h=10&Year=2006

If you follow it through you get a TARIC code of 8528300500 for "Video Projectors operating by means of a flat panel display (for example, a liquid crystal device), capable of displaying digital information generated by an automatic data-processing machine". Use that TARIC code as it's the only one that mentions LCD Video Projectors. It will also give you zero import tax from Hong Kong (you still have to pay VAT though).

the email support from this company has been excellent. Better than any Uk company i have dealt with. I have now decided to get one when i am in Honk Kong on the 6th March. (subject to stock). I will post a full review when i get back. Also Hivizone seem to have a very good reputation with buyers on the AVS forums. So i think that any purchases will be very safe with this company. With the 2 year warranty as well you have nothing to lose.

have they told you when they are having stock in - their website says 5th March. I am currently waiting to see whether they will reserve one for me.

i think they are a legit company. there are a number of happy purchasers on the avs forums anyway.
