Thanks: Gave 7, Got 5 | Hitachi PJTX300 LCD Projector Owners Club
As suggested in another thread, here's a 'Tweakers' thread for the PJTX300 owners, similar to the other thread for the TX200.
I'm currently running the 'Vladman' settings (Cheers VLADMAN!) on my PJTX300 lifted from the PJTX200 thread. I'm projecting onto a MMUK AVforums DIY Blend painted wall, and almost always view in a dark room.
I'm using a Xbox360 for source, and a Cambridge Audio Azur V2 reciever for processing.
Looking forward to seeing other tweaks. On the whole i'm very happy with my TX300, very quiet even when not in whisper mode, simple to use and a great image. I currently have about a 100" diagonal on maximum zoom setting with no noticable image problems. Did have a bit of a flicker at 80 hours but it seems to have disappeared now, i'm at 110 hours lamp life now.
PJTX200 Thread- Hitachi PJTX200 LCD Projector Owners Club
MMUK Thread- PAINTS, Brews and Mixes II

Low RGB: +1, +2, +3
Mid RGB: -4, +2, 0
High RGB: 0, +1, -5 Gamma:
Use standard as reference, then set:
1: +1
2: +2
3: +3
4: +2
5: 0
6: -3
7: -3
8: -4
9:-3 Black:

Hi,
put me down as a member of the club. I think I use settings close to VLADMAN's (will have to confirm), but I switched the Auto iris off as I noticed the brightness going up and down. However for a few movies I switched it on and it helped improve the image.
Anyway I'll post my set-up in more detail once I have a bit more time, but let's get the thread rolling!!!

It's an owl white screen.
It came second hand with my old Seleco CRT projector.
No idea what 'gain' it offers.

What a great club to belong to! I'm using the same settings as the op apart from turning the colour level to +2, iris +5 and the sharpness to +6. Brightness and contrast at +3 and +10. Running an xbox 360 through it and below that i didnt think it was quite gamey enough but now its spot on! Also using the 80 inch free hitachi screen.
Unfortunately I'm only at 500 hrs but I have some dust blobs visible so at some point soon its all going to come apart for cleaning...

I sat down and read the handbook again last night, and I spotted something that I'd missed first time around.
"The best picture quality is generally achieved when the lens shift is set to the centre. Each lens shift dial clicks into place when set to the centre"
My PJ is ceiling mounted, but re-centering the horizontal lens shift was easy enough. I was able to dial back to the centre point and then adjusted my ceiling mount accordingly (it allows me to move to the left and right).
Re-centering the vertical lens shift is a bit more problematic. For starters I cannot feel the dial click into place. It was obvious when adjusting the horizontal (I even heard it click in), but I can't detect anything with the vertical.
In the end I turned the dial all the way in one direction, and then counted the full number of turns needed to reach the limit in the other direction. Dived the number of turns by two, and hey-presto... my PJ now beams a lovely picture into the middle of my ceiling |

I've decided that lowering the PJ (so that no adjustment of vertical lens shift is required), is a bad idea. I'm just going to live with it.
Anyway, I had a play with focus this afternoon, and would recommend the following as I found it makes a difference.
I dialed sharpness down to zero, and reset the focus based on a projected image (I used the sharpness pattern on my DVE disc) rather then the PJs menu.
When the focus looked sharp, I turned the sharpness back up to its normal setting. Picture definately looks sharper.

If you've got any of the Star Wars dvds, you could use one of the THX patterns.

I'm confused mate, what output connections are you getting from your dvd and digibox? Component (Red/Green/Blue Plugs) or Composite (Yellow/Red/White Plugs?
