| Re: new PJ BenQ W100 or BenQ MP620p or ???
I have just bought a BenQ projector, with model name MP620c, as there are no MP620/620p/611 for sale in my area.
Frankly speaking, it is not a native 16:9 projector. However, to my experience, it high lumens and DLP chips and 1024x768 resolution give me enough power to project it on a larger surface in compensation of 12.5% loss in upper and lower portion of screen output when viewing 16:9 DVD.
The stuff claimed to support HDTV standard through component input, using a component->VGA cable. I have not tested it yet, I will try and tell you the performance.
However, I have a question to ask if anyone can help me: Apart from using the suggested method, I have tried a bold way to try connect my DVD. I bought a DVI-I -> HDMI cable instead, hoping to connect my DVD player to projector, as the projector support DVI-I signal input. My theory is since HDMI and DVI is in fact same technology and is compatible, I may be able to send out my DVD video signal (not audio) to projector, all in digital. Since my DVD player is just standard one with upscaling, but not blue-ray/HD-DVD, it should be bothered by HDCP protection, even I still not sure whether MP620c has HDCP support on DVI input.
Unfortunately, I still unable to make it work. Anyone can tell me where my theory breaks?
Configuration:
BenQ MP620c
Cambridge DVD86
HDMI->DVI-I cable
Thanks so much!
